41. 原文：念头浓者，自待厚，待人亦厚，处处皆浓；念头淡者，自待薄，待人亦薄，事事皆薄淡。故君子居常嗜好，不可太浓艳，亦不宜太枯寂。
今译：一个对任何事情念头太多的人，往往能够善待自己，同时也能善待别人，他要求处处都丰富、气派、讲究；一个对任何事情念头很淡的人，不仅处处苛薄自己，同时也处处苛薄别人，于是事事便显得枯燥无味毫无生气。所以作为一个真正有修养的人，日常生活的喜好，既不可过度奢侈华丽，也不可过度枯燥、孤寂。
英译：A man with generous thoughts treats both himself and others with consideration. Then everything is colorful. A man with mean thoughts treats both himself and others with indifference. Then nothing is interesting. Therefore, a man of integrity should neither indulge in luxury and ostentation nor in dullness and loneliness in his daily life.
